Colouring Memories Since 1975
Around 1975, a significant milestone was reached with the introduction of PELAKA. The widespread adoption of PELAKA was driven by its extensive colour range, water-resistant properties, and dedication to eco-friendly materials.

Pelaka’s vibrant and distinctive Fluorescent colours quickly captured the fascination of the lion dance community, marking the company’s initial foray into the cultural sphere. This particular series became a favourite among lion dance troupes due to its eye-catching brilliance
- 1976
During the heyday of hand-painted advertisements, PELAKA was widely adopted as a versatile medium. Its presence was seen across various fields, including commercial advertisements, movie posters, expansive murals, and intricate craft projects.
- 1990
Pelaka demonstrated its commitment to the community by sponsoring a school, providing paints for a large-scale art project involving hearing-impaired students. Concurrently, it took a significant step towards reinforcing its product quality by applying for SIRIM certification.
- 1999
Pelaka had the honour of sponsoring the “888-foot Malaysia Calligraphy and Art Flying to Beijing” project, organized by the Malaysian Chinese Cultural Society, where 300 artists collaboratively created a massive artwork for the Beijing Olympics.
- 2008
Pelaka supplied paints for the “Red Sister’s Children’s Theatre Series,” enhancing the visual appeal of these educational plays for young audiences.
- 2010
Pelaka achieved the SIRIM Eco Label, underscoring its commitment to environmental responsibility. Together with this, Pelaka adopted the chameleon as its new emblem, symbolizing its expansive palette and adaptable nature in industrial design.
- 2013
AcriArt G, the company’s own acrylic paint masterpiece, was unveiled. In 2014, AcriArt G had the honour of providing paints for the “2014 Sasaran International Art Festival” (“ART IN THE AIR”), a 12-day event in Kuala Selangor organized by the Sasaran Art Association that featured approximately 66 artists from 23 countries.

AcriArt G sponsored the “Progressive Unity” Hai Kuang Acrylic Painting Exhibition, co-organized with the KLSCAH. The event featured over 30 artworks from an outdoor painting session in Muar, and was officiated by Selangor State Executive Councillor Elizabeth Wong.
- 2015
Pelaka supports creative talent and arts education through initiatives like its Packaging Design Competition and collaborations with schools and institutions. The company’s community projects include providing paints for a basketball court revitalization and a mural painting CSR program at an old folks’ home.
- 2022
AcriArt G significantly boosted its market presence by participating in the South East Asia International Art Camp and announcing artist Mr. Koh Teng Huat as its brand ambassador for acrylic paints. Simultaneously, Pelaka reinforced its green credentials by obtaining MyHIJAU certification.
- 2023
Pelaka made strategic innovations: expanding its product line to include an Acrylic series, rebranding AcriArt G as Pelaka Acrylic, and refreshing its chameleon logo to symbolize rebirth and vitality, with different colours for its traditional and new acrylic lines
